…as 54 communities promise him bloc votes on Saturday
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the House of Representatives in Ogbia Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, on Thursday, concluded his campaigns in his home town of Opume with subsequent whistle stops at Akipleai and Akoloma.
The former commissioner of Information had in the course of his two-week long campaign visited all the 54 communities in Ogbia.
In all the communities visited, the SDP candidate was received by wildly enthusiastic crowd of supporters who promised to deliver bloc votes to him during Saturday’s election.
A community leader in Idema, Chief James Goodnews Jephta, told our reporter that their decision to vote massively for the SDP flagbearer was due to the fact that the PDP and APC had in the past failed the Ogbia people woefully, making it necessary for them to try the Social Democratic Party (SDP), whose candidate has been described as the best person to represent Ogbia at this time to bring the needed change.
Chief Jephta said, “The clamour for a fresh face to represent Ogbia in the green chambers is now a movement. The entire people of Ogbia are yearning desperately for change. We want a technocrat like Daniel Iworiso-Markson whose track record and combined experience in the public and private sector would be effectively deployed to help salvage Ogbia. For a long time, those who have been going to represent us in Ogbia have not brought any tangible development to the area and we cannot continue like that.
“We will ensure that we deliver bloc votes to the SDP candidate to enable him go to Abuja to represent us.“
The SDP candidate, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, during his campaign visits to all the communities, lamented the complete absence of Federal presence in Ogbia and the deplorable living conditions of the people, promising that he would restore the people’s hope and ensure even development across the various communities that make up the Federal constituency.
He disclosed that he had elaborate plans to turn around the fortunes of Ogbia, particularly in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, education, youth and women empowerment that will greatly help to pull them out of poverty.
