Police operatives in Bayelsa State have arrested four armed robbery suspects after storming their hideout in Yenagoa, the state capital, the authorities have said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Asinim Butswat, who made this known in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation was carried out by SWAT operatives following a tip off.
Butswat said the operatives stormed the criminal hideout on Ebisam Road, Yenagoa, on Tuesday about 5:pm and arrested the four suspected armed robbers, who were allegedly planning an operation.
He said the suspects Prefateyah Francis, 30, Job Molo Edward, 41, Barine Nwinee, 41 and Edho Kingsley, 44, were caught preparatory to launching an attack on an unknown location.
He said a Barretta pistol was recovered from one of the suspects, Prefateyah Francis.
Butswat said: “They have volunteered useful information. The suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Mike Okoli, calls for continued support from members of the public to enable the police to succeed in the arduous task of fighting crime.”
