Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Wednesday visited Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
As Obi arrived, he was welcomed and received inside the house by the host, where they had a meeting behind closed doors.
After the meeting, the duo refused to speak on the purpose of the meeting as newsmen were not granted access to them.
There have been speculations Wike might dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after suffering defeat at the party’s presidential primary and was not nominated as the vice-presidential candidate of the party.
The PDP screening committee for the party’s vice-presidential candidate was said to have selected Wike for the position, but the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, however, announced Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate instead of Wike.
Only a few days ago, Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi had met with Wike behind closed doors in Rivers.
