Youths of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday trooped out to the party headquarters to protest and demand the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.
The youths, under the aegis of Save PDP Group, were spotted at the front of the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
They lamented the recent defection of some of the party’s stakeholders to the All Progressives Congress insisting that the party chairman should leave.
Some of them were noticed carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “Uche Secondus Must Go”, “We have lost confidence in your chairmanship”, “We cannot afford to lose more governors” and others.
The leader of the youths, Comrade Tamunotonye Inioribo, while speaking with the newsmen, said Secondus had been using the party for selfish reasons, adding that he was the reason “for the defection of three governors and dozens of senators from the party.”
According to him, organs of the party including, the PDP Governors’ Forum, National Working Committee, National Executive Committee “are all divided.”
He added that the party chairman had also created crises in various states’ chapters.
FirstNews reported that Governor Nyesom Wike is being accused of being behind moves to remove the embattled chairman of the party.
