The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, on Thursday visited Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where they had a meeting behind closed-doors.
The PDP chairman and his entourage arrived at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, at about 12:20pm.
Speculations are that the Secondus’s visit may have been motivated by the internal crisis rocking the party, which centres majorly on the moves by some chieftain of the party to have him removed as the party’s chairman.
Obasanjo, who was the president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under the platform of the PDP, is still respected by many stakeholders of the party.
Meanwhile, the visit came at a time when the move to unseat Secondus appears to have been relaxed following the intervention of the PDP governors, Board of Trustees and National Assembly caucus last Tuesday.
The party stakeholders, had last Tuesday, resolved that the party’s national convention would hold in October to elect a new leadership.
