Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has donated two motorised fumigating machine to Rivers State Government to contain the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Presenting the equipment to Governor Nyesom Wike at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, the Oba Ogunwusi said they were locally fabricated to combat the coronavirus disease in the country.
The Oba, who was represented by a member of Ooni of Ife COVID-19 Taskforce, Princess Fadekemi Fadojutimi, said the equipment, which uses sodium hydrochloride solution, would assist the state government in its fight against the virus.
He commended Wike for his pragmatic approach in containing the spread of the pandemic in the state.
Receiving the machine, Wike, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Prof Princewill Chike, thanked the Ooni for his kind gesture to the state government.
He also commended the monarch for the patriotic zeal, which inspired him to make the donation and called for the emulation of the innovation that inspired the fabrication.
He urged Nigerian youths to use the COVID-19 period to look for innovative ways to be productive in the society, noting that the machine would boost the state government’s current decontamination of all public places.
He pledged that the machine would be put into judicious use by the relevant government agencies for the overall benefit of Rivers people.
