Super Eagles duo, Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem, are set to dump CD Leganes, who lost their top-flight status on Sunday following a 2-2 draw with champions Real Madrid at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
Sergio Ramos and Marco Asensio scored for Los Blancos, while Bryan Gil and Assalé netted for Los Pepineros.
The two Nigeria internationals were non-playing substitutes against the La Liga champions.
Awaziem has an escape route from Leganes as he was only on loan for the 2019-2020 season and is now expected to return to Porto and await further developments.
Leganes earlier tested the waters to see if they can sign Awaziem permanently but they pulled out of a potential deal after they were quoted a fee of ten million euros.
As for Omeruo, the former Chelsea star is already attracting huge interest from Levante, according to reports.
The 26-year-old, who has played 51 games in the Spanish top-flight since debuting, has a contract with Leganes until June 30, 2024.
Meanwhile ex- Golden Eaglets invitee, Kelechukwu Ebenezer, is preparing to bid farewell to FC Barcelona Escola Varsovia Football Academy and has admitted that he models his game after PSG and Brazil superstar Neymar.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder cum winger said, “Neymar. I admire his skills, I always enjoy watching him. Probably no football player has such ease in handling the ball. Sometimes, I imagine playing like him.”
Wiesław Wilczyński, founder and owner of FCB Escola Varsovia Football Academy, revealed that Ebenezer will change clubs in the summer transfer window.
Coach Manu Garba ran the rule over Ebenezer during the Nigeria U17s training camp in Abuja last year, but he was not included in the team’s final squad list for the tournament in Brazil because he had to return to Poland due to club commitments.
Ebenezer represented Barcelona Escola Varsovia Football Academy in the Centralna Liga Juniorów in the 2019-2020 season.
