The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio has revealed when the report of the ongoing forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) will be submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said that the long awaited report would be submitted to Buhari by next month.
The minister made this disclosure on Wednesday to State House correspondents after a meeting with Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari at the State House, Abuja.
According to Akpabio, the forensic exercise goes beyond cleaning up of the mess in the NDDC but also seeks to reposition the development commission to make it function optimally.
Noting that much progress has been made on the forensic audit, the minister added that Nigeria cannot afford a crisis in South-South as recorded in other regions of the country because of its importance to the economic survival of the nation.
He further said that he has had a series of meetings with stakeholders in the region to make sure the oil rich region remains crisis free.
He advised politicians in regions riddled with crises to emulate the same to curb restiveness in their regions.
