Manchester United are lining up to sign Germany midfielder, Leon Goretzka, amid mounting fears they will be forced to sell Paul Pogba, according to The Sun.
Bayern Munich midfielder, Goretzka, 26, is also reportedly in a stand-off with his club over his future and could be available on a free move next summer.
However, Bayern manager, Julian Nagelsmann wants former Schalke man, Goretzka to renew his deal.
Pogba’s contract also expires next summer.
Meanwhile, the English club is nearing an agreement on terms with Raphael Varane which will see the Real Madrid defender have his current wages doubled, according to the Daily Star.
The 28-year-old is moving into the final 12 months of his Real Madrid contract and the Spanish club will look for around £43m for his signature. And Manchester United are willing to double Varane’s wages, something the La Liga side may not compete with.
