Lagos State Police Command has warned against violent protests over the Lekki toll plaza reopening by the Lekki Concession Company Limited.
In a statement Thursday night by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, warned against violent and inappropriate actions that could affect peace and order in the state.
According to the statement, the CP said activities capable of grounding commercial activities and obstructing free flow of traffic would not be tolerated.
Noting that the police are not averse to the people’s right to freedom of assembly, he said that nobody will be allowed to violate the rights of others.
Alabi warned intending protesters that anyone found infringing on the free will of Nigerians will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The CP further advised residents to go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment or intimidation.
