Popular Nigerian actor James Ikechukwu Esomugha, better known as Jim Iyke, has called for an end to killings in in the South-East, advising youths of the region to avoid engaging in acts detrimental to Igboland.
The talented act spoke to journalists at the weekend in Owerri, Imo State during Social Media Fest program. He noted that the explosives being thrown in the region were affecting the economy of the zone.
According to him, instead of violence, the government and the aggrieved people of the region should choose dialogue as a way to trash out their differences.
He begged the youths to amplify their voices through other means instead of taking to weapons.
“We can amplify our voices in so many ways instead of killing ourselves. Don’t forget this destruction is not outside of Igboland it is inside our land. We are killing ourselves by ourselves. A house fighting itself in the same house will only collapse,” he said.
The actor also said that the insecurity in the region was a reaction to the marginalisation of the zone by the Federal Government.
