Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that “people are working behind the scenes” regarding the travail of a Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Sanwo-Olu spoke about Igboho’s issue on Saturday when he addressed the press at the Polling Unit 019 Ward 08, Ikoyi II, where he cast his vote during the Local Government/Council Areas election.
Governors of the South-West had been accused of keeping silent on the trial of the activist.
But, at the poll, a journalist asked the Lagos State governor why South West governors have refused to comment on Igboho’s travail.
Replying, he said, “These are very difficult times for all of us. I can assure you that people are working behind the scenes.
“At occasions like this, it’s not by how many Press people you call.
“I’m aware that a lot of people have responses that they are doing quietly and privately and it doesn’t have to be a public conversation.”
Security operatives arrested with his Germany-based wife, Ropo, at airport in Benin Republic while they reportedly tried to catch a flight to Germany on Monday night.
Igboho and the wife was kept in custody before court on Thursday ordered the release of the wife on Friday.
Igboho was kept back in custody and his immigration trial adjourned till Monday, July 26.
