National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, on Monday, vowed not to resign his position.
Pressure has continued to be mounted on Secondus by different forces within the main opposition party to step down amid the crisis of confidence rocking the party.
The current situation in the party has resulted in some stakeholders resigning their membership of the opposition party.
Also, some members of the party’s National Working Committee, last week, threatened to resign if the leadership crisis is not resolved soon.
Similarly, PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives had on Sunday asked Secondus to resign with immediate effect.
The PDP lawmakers in a communique jointly signed by the Caucus leader, Kingsley Chinda and his deputy, Chukwuka Onyema, said the resolution was reached on Saturday during a virtual meeting.
But the PDP national chairman in a statement by his media aide, Ike Abonyi, challenged those demanding his resignation to be courageous to tell members whatever offence he has committed.
The statement read, “The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has said that he will not resign his position.
“Prince Secondus said nothing so far warrants his resignation from the party position and those calling for his resignation should come clean and tell party members across the country his offence why he should resign.
“He said he will remain focused and committed to the ideals of the party which he swore to protect and defend upon his election to lead this great party 44 months ago.”
