Tom Garba, Yola
Through his purposeful representation while a House of Representatives lawmaker representing Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Federal Constituency in the Eighth Assembly of the National Assembly, Honourable Lawal Abubakar Garba, facilitated an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory for Government Secondary School, Army Barracks, Jimeta.
Barrister Garba, who represented the constituency from 2015 to 2019, has today some of his constituency projects being inaugurated despite his absence as a lawmaker representing the area.
While inaugurating the project, Garba said he was extremely delighted to facilitate a brand-new ICT Laboratory for the Government Day Secondary School Army Barracks in Jimeta-Yola.
In his keynote address, the erstwhile national legislator said a new chapter has been opened in the history of the school, where the utilization of ICT by the pupils will be of great importance tilting toward enriched educational values and knowledge enhancement.
He said the pupils of the school would never be left behind in the modern teaching curriculum and company-enhanced teaching technology.
Garba said, “For the record, I will like to state clearly that the nomination of this project was made by my humble self when I was your elected member of the House of Representatives in the eighth (8th) National Assembly 2015-2019.
“It is equally important to note that the project was financed and executed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC); “to provide a platform for teaching, learning, research, and development. The objective is to encourage the use of ICT in academic development and facilitate easier access to intellectual resources available globally.
“In light of the importance of ICT, I urge the students, management of the school, and Parent Teachers Association (PTA) to take good care of all the devices/installations and structures provided by the NCC as the school property and ensure that it is properly put into use.
“May I on behalf of students, school management, and my constituents thank Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for providing these valuable assets for our community’s educational advancement?
Finally, I consider it a privilege to commission the ICT Laboratory for the benefit of students of this school, staff, and humanity as a whole.”
Hon Lawan, who is currently the flagbearer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) hoping to represent the Girei, Yola North and Yola South, said his mission and vision if elected for the second time will be people-oriented projects, laws, motions, and bills, which he will implement.
Recall how he represented the area in the last three years and a half that today many have seen the need for him to go back.
