. Civil Defence boss orders manhunt for killers
Unknown gunmen, on Saturday, killed an operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Godwin Mbula, in Rivers State.
Media Assistant to the NSCDC Commandant General, Ekunola Gbenga, disclosed this in a statement.
According to the statement, some gunmen shot the victim, who was a Chief Corps Assistant, when they invaded Shell manifold located at Gio in the early hours of Saturday.
It said, “Following the attack on Shell Gio Manifold and the killing of an officer of the Corps in Rivers State by unknown gunmen at about 0330hrs on Saturday, the Commandant General, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has ordered a massive manhunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
“The Commandant General condemns this dastardly and cowardly act, which resulted in the death of Chief Corps Assistant Godwin Mbula.”
The NSDCD boss added, “The nation is facing challenges with unrepentant vandals; the Corps is also giving them sleepless time to reduce to the lowest minimum nefarious activities of vandals across the nation.
“Despite the attacks on our officers on a daily basis, we have vowed to bring an end to oil theft, bunkering activities, and attack on all government critical infrastructure in the country.”
