Gunmen have kidnapped six pupils at Alwaza Primary School in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Friday.
A source in the town said, “The incident occured when heavily armed men attacked the school in in the morning and abducted six pupils.
“Pupils were arriving the school when the incident occured.” He said.
Another source said, this is a sad incident in our community. We infirmed the police about the sad incident to assist in the rescue of the kidnapped pupils.
When contacted, Police spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, “The information I have is that two boys between age 7 and 8 were the ones taken away on their way the primary school in Alwaza and not six.
“On receipt of the information at 7:10am today, a joint team led by the Commissioner of Police comprising of the Police, Military and Vigilante were mobilised to the scene of the attack to rescue the kidnapped pupils and track down the criminals.
“We are still on the trail of the abductors and we promise to do everything within our powers to address the situation,” he said.
He however, said the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba had directed police operatives officers to work in collaboration with vigilante groups and other security agencies in the state to ensure the rescue of the victims.
The PPRO therefore called on the community to go about their lawful businesses without any fear and appealed to them to provide useful information that will lead to the arrest of criminals in the area.
