Unknown gunmen have abducted three policemen in Ogun State.
It was learnt that the policemen were abducted on Thursday at Wasinmi, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The abducted policemen, sources said, were in the state from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation.
It was further learnt that they were duly booked at the Wasinmi Police Division before they left for the operations they were in the state for.
But the policemen, led by one Inspector Oladipo Olayemi, sources said, were abducted by some armed men on the road at about 2:30pm.
But the driver of the commercial vehicle, who conveyed the policemen, narrowly escaped from being kidnapped along with the policemen.
The Ewekoro Divisional Police Officer is said to be leading his men in search of the abducted policemen.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that although people were kidnapped, only one policeman had got missing.
Oyeyemi said operatives of Anti-Kidnapping Unit were already trailing the kidnappers and assured that the victims would be rescued.
“We are on the trail of the kidnappers. Do you think we are going to keep quiet? We will get them and rescue the victims unhurt,” he said.
