Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday abducted a 23-year-old student, Sakina Bello of Bayero University, Kano.
Bello, a 300 level student of Botany Department was abducted along Janbulo and Rijiyar Zaki area of Kano metropolis.
It was further gathered that the victim, Bello was kidnapped inside a commercial tricycle (Adai Daita Sahu)
A family source said the kidnappers had contacted the family of the victim, demanding N100 million ransom to free her.
According to the source, “She left home around 3pm on Tuesday and could not come back until this moment.
“She was supposed to go to Janbulo from our house in Rjiyar Zaki.”
The source said the kidnappers called the victim’s elder brother around 9pm and informed him that she is their den and that they will call back on Wednesday.
“When they called the next day, they demand N100 million ransom,” the source explained.
A spokesman for Kano Police Command, DSP, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said police received a report of a missing person around 3pm on Tuesday and swung into the matter immediately.
“We received a report of a missing person from Rjiyar Zaki and we immediately swung into action to trace her whereabouts.
“The command is putting more effort to ensure she is traced and reunite with her family,” he said.
Kano is among the northwest states that is not affected by the widespread abductions across the region.
