Veteran filmmaker and politician, Funke Akindele, fondly called Jenifa, has revealed that she intends to leave Nollywood to concentrate on her political career.
“Battle on Bukka Street”, which is her latest movie, perhaps may be her final production.
The mother of two declared in July, 2022 that she was prepared to pay the price of delving into politics, even if it meant temporarily putting an end to her career in Nigerian cinema.
The actress, who is vying to become Lagos State’s next deputy governor, asserted that she will still be present in the background to mentor and supervise the new hires, to enable them to carry out their duties.
When Olajide Adediran, the PDP’s candidate for governor in Lagos, chose her as his running mate for the general election in 2023, the Nollywood actress announced in July 2022, that she would be entering politics fully.
The movie, “Battle on Bukka Street”, starred a lot of amazing actors, the likes of Tina Mba, Sola Sobowale, Regina Chuwku, Mercy Johnson Okojie, Wunmi Toriola, and so on, it premiered on the 11th of December 2022, and it will be showing in all cinema nationwide from 16th of December.
