The Federal Government said the suspension on the removal of fuel subsidy would last for 18 months.
It said the subsidy on the fuel would remain pending an amendment in the Petroleum Industry Act will be forwarded to the National Assembly.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva hinted at this while speaking to State House Correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the extension in the subsidy removal to allow the government put necessary palliatives in place.
He added that, the rehabilitation of the refineries are ongoing, while Dangote refinery is almost coming on stream.
Recall that FG made a U-turn on removal of subsidy of petrol after Nigerians at different levels raised alarms.
