Sheikh Ahmad Gumi once again has said there will be peace in Nigeria if schools are built for bandits.
The controversial Kaduna State based Islamic cleric, therefore, advised the Federal Government to use billions of naira being expended on ammunition to build schools for bandits.
Gumi has constantly called on the government to grant amnesty to bandits to stop them from killing Nigerians and committing other atrocities.
He made the latest call for schools to be built for them when he spoke at the Uthman Dan Fodio Centre at Kagarko Grazing Reserve Kohoto Village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Monday.
According to Gumi, education remains the best means of preventing bandits, who are criminal Fulani herdsmen, from attacking and killing Nigerians.
He said, “Instead of spending billions on hardware, spend it on schools. I have spoken to lots of them, they have agreed to lay down their weapons and embrace education.
“The herdsmen take cattle for grazing in the morning, come back and study in the evening. Before then, we would run primary and secondary schools at intervals.
“We have a hospital also at the centre as well as an economic booster on showing them how to feed their animals.
“If we can replicate this everywhere, Nigeria will be in peace.”
