A peaceful protest is currently rocking the streets of Jimeta, the administrative base of Adamawa as Youths, Women and notable government officials stormed the office of the Independent Electoral Commission to demand Justice.
The protesters in their thousands were chanting “Give us our mandate, “Fintiri won” and were asking INEC to do the needful.
Chief Felix Tangwami, assistant Campaign Director of the PDP presidential and Governorship elections in the state lead the protest alongside the commissioner of Governor Umaru Fintiri-led administration.
You would recall that the declaration of Senator Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barr Yunusa Hudu Ari has thrown not only Adamawa state in a state of confusion but the entire federation.
The debate in public forums is that Hudu does not have the constitutional mandate to declare Binani the winner of the inconclusive election while results are being collated.
