Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s team, Falconets departed the country on Thursday for this year’s U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
The Falconets squad mostly consisted of players involved in the impressive qualifying series where won six out of seven matches with only a draw against Cameroon.
Led by coach Christopher Danjuma, Nigeria will face France in their opening game then Canada, and Korea in Group C.
Hosts Costa Rica will battle 2018 runners-up Spain, Australia, and Brazil in Group A. Africa’s other representative Ghana will face defending champions Japan, The Netherlands and three-time champions United States.
Germany who are also three-time champions will play Colombia, New Zealand and Mexico in Group B.
The tournament will hold from August 10 to August 28.
