Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Friday witnessed another gas explosion which left two persons injured.
The incident happened barely 24 hours after an explosion that hit the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on Thursday killed two persons.
The latest explosion in the state happened at Onikoko area of Abeokuta around 10:00 am on Friday. It created serious panic among the residents of the area.
With this Friday’s incident, the Ogun State capital has recorded a total of nine explosions in the last nine days and about 11 persons died as a result of them.
The last explosion it was learnt, was caused by an industrial gas said to belong to a construction company. The company kept it in its garage where it exploded, shattering walls and glasses of nearby buildings.
The incident was confirmed by the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Lekan Ogunbanwo, and the Special Adviser to the governor on Environment, Ola Oresanya.
The government officials said that two persons were injured as a result of the incident.
Meanwhile, FirstNews learnt that the state government has sealed-ff the industrial gas retailing depot at Omida.
