The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and the late Abubakar Shekau Boko Haram branch engaged in an intense rivalry war on Thursday that resulted in the deaths of a leader only known as Kundu and other militants.
The conflict took place between the local governments of Dikwa and Bama.
According to a security source, the ISWAP caught up with Kundu and his squad when they were on a robbery operation. They were traveling on six motorbikes, each carrying three fighters.
The source said, “A heavy fight ensued between the terrorists resulting to dozens of casualties on the side of the Boko Haram terrorists, while few ISWAP terrorists were wounded.
“The Boko Haram terrorists took to their heels leaving their motorcycles to the ISWAP terrorists.”
In a separate event, Nigerian military attacked the ISWAP strongholds in the Lake Chad Basin in a series of operations, killing dozens of militants, including three leaders.
It was discovered that three camps in the northern region of Borno State were destroyed by military planes Super Tucano that were expertly coordinated by the air component of Operations Hadin Kai.
It was learned that the Air Task Force (ATF), Operation Hadin Kai, launched its coordinated attacks on the terrorist hideouts in Rino, Jibularam, and Kangarwa in the Marte and Kukawa local government districts in the early morning hours of September 14.

“In another feat, which followed a credible and actionable intelligence obtained by the air component of Operation Hadin Kai, the troops neutralized many terrorists moving in two vehicles in the axis of Kangarwa in Kukawa LGA.
“On receipt of the distress call, NAF aircraft immediately scrambled to the location where they intercepted and neutralised several terrorists. Troops’ deployment around the area revealed that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties from the airstrikes,” the source said.
