As primary and secondary school pupils in Oyo State continue to attend classes amid the deadly COVID-19, the Arulogun Royal Family of Ibadan has embarked on the donation of relief materials to schools in Arulogun town and its environs to cushion the effects of the pandemic.
The relief materials included hand sanitisers, face masks, buckets, among others.
These were aimed at supporting the efforts of the state government in ensuring the safety of the pupils attending schools at this trying time.
The family, led by Mogaji Arulogun and Jagun Balogun of Ibadan, Chief Monsur Arulogun, expressed worry over the damaging effects of the novel virus.
The family further expressed fears that students might fall victim of the pandemic if enough efforts were not made to protect them from the effects of COVID-19.
Members of the Arulogun Royal Family also sentitised the pupils on the need to stay safe and adhere strictly to government and NCDC directives as well as protocol on COVID-19 by washing their hands regularly wirth soap and running water, using hand sanitisers, wearing face masks at all times when in public and maintaining social distancing.
Addressing newsmen while making the donations on behalf of the family, Chief Mosur said, “The Arulogun family did this in order to support the government. Government cannot do it alone. A way to appreciate the Oyo State Government is to join hands with the Governor Seyi Makinde administration to fight COVID-19.
“Schools have resumed in Oyo State and we want to ensure that the students are safe, in line with government efforts. This will not be the last from the Arulogun family. We will give more to support the government.”
During the visit, scores of pupils expressed surprise and gratitude that a host community could extend such gestures, especially in a parlous economic situation.
Other family members, who participated in the tour, were Chief Timothy Oluyombo Arulogun, Baale-elect, Arulogun 1 and Chief Lawal Taofeq Arulogun, Baale-elect Arulogun Oja town and a host of other personalities.
