Seven members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee have resigned.
The development, FirstNews gathered, caused palpable tension at the Wadata House, the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
When this report was filed details of the seven NWC members were not yet known. However, it was learnt that the members’ decision to resign was based on alleged “unpleasant working environment” in the party.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd), who confirmed the resignations to Punch, explained that those who resigned were deputies not the substantial heads of the departments.
Akobundu did not say more than that.
Those who resigned include the deputy national financial secretary, the deputy legal adviser, the deputy national auditor, the deputy national publicity secretary, the deputy women leader and the deputy organising secretary.
