Nigeria will be hoping to add to its medal haul and move up the table as more athletes qualify for the final of their respective events.
Duo of Esther Isa and Temitope Adeshina will compete in the final of women’s High Jump, after both athletes secured qualifications, scaling a height of 1.81m to join other 10 finalists in this event with hope of making a podium finish.
Sade Olatoye has also qualified for the final of women’s Hammer Throw, after finishing 9th overall from the qualification rounds. Olatoye who is the current African champion threw a mark of 61.74m to secure her place in the final.
In Boxing, Ifeanyi Onyekwere is through to the semifinal of men’s over 92kg Super Heavyweight category and guaranteed to win a medal after a 5-0 (Win on Points) over Marcel Mouafo-Feujo of Canada.
