A friend of Chinelo, a medical doctor, who was among those killed in the Kaduna-Abuja train terrorists attack on Monday has lamented the young doctor’s death.
Chinelo’s friend, Steph Adamu, lamented that the late doctor has finalised plans to leave Nigeria, which he described as a ‘hell-hole’, this coming Friday, only to be killed by bandits.
Adamu wrote, “Chinelo was making an honest living, she was working at St Gerald’s hospital in Kaduna, she wanted more for herself and processed her papers to leave this hell-hole. She resigned last month to leave the country this Friday then this happened. Nigeria why???”
Chinelo had tweeted around 9.43pm that she had been shot, asking Nigerians to pray for her.
No fewer than seven people were killed, many injured, and others missing after the attack on 970-passenger train by terrorists.
It was learnt that the terrorists planted explosives on the rail tracks and bombed the train just before Rijana, a community along the rail line in Kaduna, notorious for kidnapping and other security breaches.
On Tuesday, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) said it had temporarily suspended services on the Abuja-Kaduna route because of the incident which occurred some 30 minutes from Kaduna.
At least, two NRC workers and five security personnel were also reportedly killed when gunmen opened fire on the train.
Nigerians, who were shocked by the incident, have been expressing concern over the heightened insecurity situation across the country.
Many of them have been calling out President Muhammadu Buhari All Progressives Congress-led government, describing the government as a failure over its inability to secure lives and properties of the citizens.
Earlier on Saturday, terrorists had also attacked Kaduna International Airport, leading to some casualties.
As at the time this report was filed, the Buhari’s Presidency is yet to react to these attacks, at least to give the citizens reassuring words of its commitment to their safety.
