… says ‘APC national leader’s kingdom is badly balkanised’
Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Monday, alleged that the powerful cabal in Aso Rock is planning to give All Progressives Congress’ National Leader and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the ‘MKO Abiola’ treatment at the ongoing presidential primary of the ruling party.
Fayose made this allegation in an open letter he wrote to Tinubu on Monday.
The victory of Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993, Presidential election was denied him with the controversial annulment of the results. General Sani Abacha later detained him for declaring himself President and he eventually died in detention after four years.
Fayose in his open letter, warned that Tinubu was swimming against the tide and needed to proceed with extreme caution.
The letter partly read, “Going by the handwritings that are now clearly on the wall, if I may consider sir, I see you as one that may be swimming against the political tide of the cabal in your party. They are equally preparing for your actions and reactions and are fully set to contain same as they did to both Awolowo and Abiola.”
The former Ekiti governor noted that unfortunately Tinubu’s empire originally made up of almost all the six South-West governors and ministers as well as Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, had become balkanised as clearly indicated in Tinubu’s angry outburst in Abeokuta, Ogun State, last week.
He stated that the reactions to Tinubu’s Abeokuta outburst by some of his allies in the North and the South were clearly worrisome.
“Unfortunately, your kingdom has been badly balkanised if what happened in Abeokuta is anything to go by. The book of Proverbs 22 verse 3 reads, ‘Sensible people will see trouble coming and avoid it but unthinking people will walk into it’,” Fayose added.
