The police in Bayelsa State have arrested a 20-year-old barber, Lucky Diri, for allegedly killing a commercial motorcycle operator, Emeka Christian Udo, 38, with a screwdriver.
Spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, said the suspect allegedly stabbed his victim over a minor disagreement in Sagbama community of Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.
Butswat said the unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at about 2pm at Sagbama community.
The spokesman said: “One Lucky Diri, male, 20, a barber, allegedly stabbed one Emeka Christian Udo, male, 38, a motorcycle rider with a screwdriver on his left ribs over a minor misunderstanding.
“The injured victim was immediately rushed to Sagbama General Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment. The suspect, Diri, has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation.”
He said the Commissioner of Police, Ben Nebolisa Okolo, had ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.
He said that upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect would be charged to court.
