Bandits attack military camp, unleash mayhem in Katsina community

Armed bandits launched a daring assault on a joint military camp situated in Nahuta village, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina state on Sunday night, wreaking havoc and pillaging the area.

Sources within the camp confirmed the attack occurred around 11:30 pm. The heavily-armed bandits, armed with AK-47s and other weapons, set vehicles and valuable items ablaze during the assault. Despite being outnumbered, the brave soldiers successfully repelled the attack, resulting in no casualties.

A source from the camp lamented the lack of reinforcements throughout the encounter, stating, “The bandits outweighed us and invaded the camp, causing considerable damage.”

Exploiting the ensuing chaos, the bandits extended their violence to Nahuta town. They plundered shops, broke into houses, and looted properties and livestock, causing losses estimated in the millions of naira. Residents are left traumatized and dispossessed.

As of the current report, security agencies have not issued an official statement regarding this latest bandit attack in the state. Katsina continues to grapple with the persistent menace of banditry and kidnapping, raising concerns about the security situation in the region.
