In response to the horrific murder of Catholic Reverend, Isaa Achi, enraged youths destroyed the divisional police station in Kafin-Koro, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The riotous youths allegedly mobilised around 9:am Tuesday, armed with lethal weapons, and began shouting war songs around the town’s streets before making their way to the Police Station, where they set it ablaze.
It was impossible to instantly determine whether there had been any victims or how much property had been burned or damaged.
To bring the region back to normal, police reinforcement units under the command of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, have been sent.
Recall that on Sunday, bandits broke into the home of Kafin-Koro Reverend Isaac Achi, Dean and Parish Priest of Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, and assassinated him before setting his body ablaze in his room.
While attempting to flee the burning house, his colleague Father Collins was also shot. However, he was saved by the police and taken to the hospital, where he is currently recovering.
The late Achi served as the neighborhood government’s CAN Coordinator up until his passing.
