The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has deleted a post he issued on Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party defeat of the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, in Saturday’s governorship election in the Osun State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission Sunday morning declared Adeleke the winner of the election, having polled 403,371 votes to defeat his closest rival, Oyetola, who polled 375,027 votes.
FirstNews reported that following the announcement, Aregbesola, a former governor of the state, who stayed away from the exercise to avoid a crisis, according to his aide, Sola Fasure, took to his social media handle to break his silence on the Osun governorship election.
In a post titled ‘Osun Le Tente’, connoting the wish of the Osun people…, Aregbesola quoted a bible verse, Daniel 4:17, which exalts God’s power to place control in the hands of whoever He wishes.
The post read, “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” – (Daniel 4:17).”
The post was later deleted after it had gone viral on social media and other media platforms.
However, explaining reason for deleting the post, Fasure said the deleted post was not authorised.
