The Nigeria Police has presented cheques of N22.7 million to families of deceased police personnel in Nasarawa State.
Spokesperson for the Command, Mr. Ramhan Nansel, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said in a statement that, “Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa, Adesina Soyemi, has on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba Alkali presented cheques worth Twenty two million , Seven hundred and Twenty six thousand, Nine hundred naira and Eighty three kobo (22,726,926,83k) to fifteen (15) families of deceased Police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
“IGP Group Life Assurance and the Police urged the families of deceased Police officers to make good use of the money.,” he said.
The statement also disclosed that the gesture was an initiative of the Inspector General of Police’sbGroup life Assurance
aimed at supporting the families of deceased police officers and men who died in active service”.
“It is also aimed at boosting the morale of all police officers in the country in order to spur them to do more in protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria, thereby reclaiming the public space from criminal elements as their welfare is of outmost importance to the current administration of the Force,” it added.
While presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police thanked the Inspector-general of Police for “his tireless efforts geared towards ensuring an enduring welfare package for all police personnel”.
The Police said that it was aimed at ameliorating areas of lack of the deceased’s dependants.
The beneficiaries were thankful to the police hierarchy and promised to make judicious use of the money.
