Zamfara State has suffered another attack by gunmen believed to be bandits. This time 11 people were reported killed and 40 abducted.
Recall that bandits had only a few days ago kidnapped a total of 20 people; 15 of them are students, four staff, and a driver at the College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Bakura in Zamfara.
The attack which happened on Sunday, also saw two watchmen and a police officer killed.
The latest attack happened Tuesday night at about 11:00 pm in Randa village in Dansadau Emirate of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Sources from the area said the kidnapped victims were mostly women, nursing mothers, and children.
The bandits were said to have stormed the village and started shooting sporadically, a development that forced terrified residents to scamper for safety.
FirstNews gathered that the assailants set a house in the village on fire killing seven people hiding inside the building.
Zamfara police, meanwhile, is yet to confirm the incident. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, only said that an investigation would be carried out on the matter.
