Doctors and other medical personnel who had contact with a Covid-19 patient at Jaja clinic of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, have been asked to proceed on self-isolation with effect from Wednesday.
A staff of the Institution, who was on admission at the clinic, was suspected of manifesting the related symptoms of Covid-19 and had been referred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Palpable fear now enveloped the air in the university community. During FirstNews visit to the clinic, workers were observed discussing in groups possible spread of the deadly virus.
Some of the staff, who preferred anonymity, blamed the management for non-enforcement of Covid-19 preventive measures, as well as the provision of other personal protective equipment.
Also, patients who came for medical services at the clinic, told FirstNews that COVID-19 screening checks were not conducted on patients on admission while the use of facemask was not enforced at the premises.
The workers said that the management ought to have shut down the clinic for two weeks and allow for fumigation and sanitisation of the whole area.
All efforts by our correspondent to speak with the Director of Jaja Clinic, Dr Ronke Ajayi, proved abortive.
