Police in Ogun have arrested four members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate terrorising Mowe/Ofada areas of the state.
The suspects had been on the wanted list of the police in the state for some time.
The suspects, including Sukanmi Tajudeen, Habeeb Oladimeji, Sunday Akintunde and Ishola Samson were arrested following an intelligence report received by men of Special anti-robbery Squad about the hideout of the gang at Adesan area Mowe.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that upon receipt of the report, the Officer in-charge of SARS, CSP Tijani Muhammed, dispatched operatives to the area and the suspect’s hideout was professionally cordoned off for an operation which lasted about an hour.
Oyeyemi said at the end of the operation, the four suspects were apprehended while some other members of the gang escaped through a nearby bush.
He added that one locally made triplet barrel pistol, one local made single barrel pistol, 13 live cartridges and one Bajaj motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.
The state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, who praised the gallantry displayed by the SARS operatives, ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.
Ebrimson also equally ordered a total clamp down on bandits across the state in order to secure the lives of the good people of the state.
