No single political leader in the North has the capacity to decide the region’s future, Chairman of Arewa Initiative for Peaceful Co-existence, Alhaji Musa Saidu, has said.
He dispelled insinuations that the North would not support the 2023 presidential ambition of the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Saidu, who spoke in an interview in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, stressed that collective Northern interest was quite different from that of an individual.
He described the national leader of the APC as one of the most dependable and reliable politicians from the South that the North respects, emphasising that the former Lagos State governor had created a political dynasty.
Saidu, who is the Founder, Arewa Consultative Forum in the South-South, also gave reasons he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party after his membership of 20 years and joined the APC.
He said he dumped the PDP because the 2019 presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, betrayed their political Interest.
Saidu said, “During my membership of the PDP, I contributed and funded the activities of the party without any contract from anybody.”
He boasted that no person, including governors, senators, House of Representatives members, and chairmen of local government councils could affirm that they had awarded contracts to him.
Saidu, however, dismissed advocates of Igbo presidency in 2023, wondering what South-East politicians would tell the North that is already worried with the clamour for a Biafra Republic.
