Dr. Eddy Olafeso, a former national vice chairman of the PDP in the South-West, has stated that it would be regrettable if Nigerians gave the current All Progressives Congress (APC) another chance to hold onto power after 2023.
In Akure, the state party chairman, Fatai Adams, inaugurated Olafeso, the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) along with the committee’s 533 members, including the party’s candidate in the most recent governorship election in the state, Eyitayo Jegede.
Speaking to the campaign council members, Olafeso said that the party had adopted the move “to rescue Nigerians” and that the election was crucial given the status of the country.
He said, “They’ve stolen all our patrimony. Our dignity was eroded. Our women took to the jungle and raped. This is an opportunity to build a better Nigeria. It’s only good governance led by Atiku that can bring back the kind of government we want.
“The current APC government has done a lot to destroy the unity of this country and it will be unfortunate to give them another opportunity to continue their bad job. Our party is determined to correct this.”
He pleaded on the electorate to throw their weight behind Atiku and Okowa to preserve the legacy of the founding fathers of the state.
“I want to congratulate every member of the committee for being a member of the council.
“Time is now for PDP to take over the affairs of the country from the APC. We have to look forward on how to add value to your ward and units.
“Winning your units must be total. Its a road to victory and i want to thank you all for accepting this responsibility and I am very optimistic about winning this election.
“The current APC government has done a lot to destroy the unity of this country and it will be unfortunate to give them another opportunity to continue their bad job. Our party is determined to correct this.
Adams, inaugurating the council, said he was confident that the party would emerge victorious and return to power in the forthcoming general elections.
According bro Fatai, 14 directorates headed by deputy director, who will be reporting to Olafeso, were formed by the party to make the campaign get to the grassroots for victory at the general elections.
He added that the PDP remained the strongest and most popular political party with the capacity to win elective positions.
“It’s our duty to convince the people, to see a better future for Nigeria rather than for ourselves,” he said.
