Yuletide: Movies you may like watch with loved ones at cinemas

The end of the year festivities are upon us and our December is about to be detty as usual.

Last year COVID-19 put a stop to all forms of social life but thank God you can hang out with your loved ones this time around. 

Below are some of the movies you may not regret watching with your loved ones

Christmas in Miami

It is a comedy filled movie produced by Ayodeji Richard Makun, better known as AY or Akpos. 

The story written by Patrick Koinage Nnamani and Ken Ogunlola will see Akpos jet off with his family to the exotic city of Miami, Florida to represent Nigeria at the Intercontinental Christmas Fiesta, a unifying fiesta that brings together six families from six very diverse nations across five continents.

The comedy movie will feature AY  alongside Nollywood stars like  Richard Mofe-Damijo, Osita Iheme, and ‘Coming to America’ actor John Amos. Also, it will be in cinemas on  December 24, 2021.

Superstar Movie

The movie is about the rise to stardom of an up-and-coming actress, Queen. As she plows through life and love in 21st century Nollywood, she must find the balance between artistry and stardom, whilst surviving the demons of her past.

It features the likes of Nancy Isime, Timini Egbuson, Ufuoma McDermott, Eku Edewor, Daniel Etim Effiong, Deyemi Okanlawon, Teniola Aladese,  Lord Frank, and a host of others. 

It was directed by Akhigbe Ilozobhie, fondly called  Akay Mason. The movie will hit the cinemas on December 29, 2021.

Aki and Pawpaw the Remake

It is a family comedy film that gained popularity in the early 2000s. The movie starred Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme. The duo will reprise their roles as Aki and Pawpaw from the original film.

It will also feature the likes of Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, Uti Nwachukwu, Stan Nze, Blessing Jessica Obasi, Chioma Okafor, Anita Asuoha (Real Warri Pikin), Juliet Ibrahim, Charles Inojie, Amechi Muonagor, Francis Sule.

The movie, produced by Chris Odeh and directed by Biodun Stephen, will be in the cinemas on December 17, 2021.

Soole

The movie is a comedy-drama about a group of people from different walks of life who meet on a bus on their way home for Christmas, only to find themselves entangled in a cat-and-mouse game with dangerous criminals.

This is Adunni Ade’s first cinema movie, produced by her production company, Lou-Ellen Clara Films, and directed by Kayode Kasum. 

It starred actors like Sola Sobowale, Adedimeji Lateef, Femi Jacobs, Adunni Ade, Shawn Faqua, Meg Otanwa, Kelechi Udegbe and others.

Its started showing at the cinema on November 26, 2021, and it’s still showing.

A Naija Christmas

It is a hilarious film about the lives of three brothers, Ugo, Chike, and Obi, and their mother, whose one wish is for her sons to bring home a bride.

Their ill mother practically drags her single sons about their lifestyle choices until they promise to bring home their partners on Christmas Day.  Although the only problem is that these partners don’t exist and they have to scramble to fulfill their dying mother’s wishes…

It features an amazing cast like, Mercy Johnson, Kunle Remi, Efa Iwara, Ade Laoye, Abayomi Alvin, and the late Rachael Oniga who plays the loving but relentless mother, Carol King, Lateef Adedimeji and Linda Osifo, and others.

The movie, directed by Kunle Afolayan, streamed on Netflix on December 16, 2021.

How to ruin Christmas

Prodigal daughter Tumi tries to make things right after completely ruining what should have been her sister’s picture-perfect Christmas wedding. It is a Netflix movie and it is one of the top 10 movies seen by Nigerians on the streaming platform.

Chief Daddy 2 (Going for Broke)

It is a comedy-drama and a sequel to Chief daddy 1, the movie is about the Beecroft family, their drama, secrets and all, it promises to be fun.

It featured the likes of Funke Akindele-Bello, Shaffy Bello, Kate Henshaw, Joke Silva, Rachael Oniga, Ini Edo, Falz, and others. It was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and produced by Ebony Life CEO, Mo Abudu.

It will be on Netflix on January 1, 2022.
