Women/child abusers must be exposed, prosecuted – Women Affairs Minister

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohananye has disclosed that henceforth, women and child abusers must be exposed and prosecuted accordingly.

She made the disclosure at the commencement of this year’s International women’s day/month celebration in her office at the Ministry of Women Affairs in Abuja at the weekend with the theme: “Count her in; accelerating gender equality through economic empowerment.”

According to her, “I enjoin the people to avoid stigmatizing women and children who have been abused by bad people, to report to the relevant authorities for the suspects to be exposed and punished accordingly.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and founder of Renewed Hope Initiative, (RHI) are against women and children abusers and supports this Ministry in this move.

“I know and value the importance of our royal fathers and wants them to head their important traditional institutions to sensitise people against women and children abuse, avoid stigmatization for victims to report the abuse to relevant authorities for the offenders to be prosecuted and to serve as deterrent to others”. She said

Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohananye said only Nigerians will develop the country to greater status for the upliftment of women and children especially in rural areas.

The Politician said that many advocacies have been done, what women wants is action through funding for the reduction of their suffering, especially in rural areas.

The former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said that it is time for women to have their stress reduced by having processing machines for Garri, corn, bitter-leaf amongst other instead of the conventional and stressful means coupled with home keeping.
