What Tinubu must do to end ethnic division caused by election – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says the incoming administration must work to facilitate national moral rearmament and reconciliation due to the divisiveness caused by the 2023 general elections.

Obasanjo said doing this would bring about healing and assuage Nigerian youths riled by the various inadequacies of the elections.

The former spoke while delivering his speech at a Conference in Abuja, organised by Nextier and the Ibadan School of Governance and Public Policy. The theme of the conference was, “From Elections to Governance and Performance”.

He stated that governance in Nigeria now required going the extra miles and thinking outside the box on strategies to rescue the nation from its plunging economy and huge national debt burden.

He added that there must be the political will and action, as well as administrative efforts, to reform the public service, and turn it into a capability-ready unit.

Obasanjo stressed that against the backdrop of the challenges confronting the country, he had grown “too old to keep quiet”, insisting that he would continue to voice concerns for the benefit of the nation.
