Two burglars arrested as one escapes with live turkey in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have arrested two burglars for allegedly breaking into homes and shops, looting properties of unsuspecting members of the public at Oke-Ejigbo area of the state.

The suspects are: Kolawole Shobowale and Moruf Soyoye.

They were arrested following several complaints reported to CSP Hadiza Abu Oganyi about the incessant breaking and entry into their shops, and homes, without clue or link to the masterminds behind the wreck that has continued at Oke Ejigbo until now.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday

Odutola said that intelligent report by a Commander of a the State’s Social Orientation Safety Corps (So-Safe) led to the arrest of the two suspects while the third accomplice escaped with a gun shot injury.

She said the duo have confessed to the crime of breaking and entry into houses, saying the one who ran away after sighted by the SO-SAFE Commander escaped with a live turkey.

The Police PPRO said that the SO SAFE team trailed them to their houses and cordoned off the house, leading to the arrest of the above suspects, and discovered items suspected to be looted in the same house

The items recovered include: one Live Turkey, one plasma TV, two speakers, one socket extension, two hand saw, three remote control, three liters of vegetable oil, two kegs of 5 liters palm oil, 25 liters of vegetable oil, half bag of rice, one School bag containing clothes, two standing fans, one GOTV, three mouth spanner, one pack of Olive toothpaste, and three Oral B toothpaste.

Others are: Bags containing used provisions, one big pack of Sunlight detergent, 21 pieces of new clothes in sack, 67 pieces of clothes inside sack,17 pieces of new clothes inside sack,13 pieces of new clothes in a travelling bag, 5 sachets of macaroni and raw beans, 4 sachets of Idomie, 2 Hammers and one screw driver, Power bank, one bucket containing assorted provisions and insecticide, one bucket containing assorted soaps, one speaker, and one woofer music engine

Also, one Samsung Dvd and one LG Dvd, one electronic cooker, one Infinix phone and one Techno Spark phone and one Infinix Hot Phone with two small Itel batteries.

Odutola said members of the community have continued to throng the Oke Itokun Division to identify some of their items that have been stolen months back without any clue pointing towards the innocent looking suspected criminals

She, therefore, noted that the matter will be transfered to the State Criminal Investigation Department for more details and further charge the two to Court and will also trace the other fleeing suspects.
