SWAN congratulates Yusuf-Ogunleye, Ondo’s new sport Commissioner

The Ondo State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed delight at the appointment of Mr. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye as Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in the state, describing the choice as a round peg in a round hole.

The association, in a statement by its chairman, Mr. Segun Giwa, and Secretary, Mr. Joseph Adesuyan, issued in Akure on Wednesday, said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had done his research correctly in returning Yusuf-Ogunleye to the Sports Ministry where he once held sway as commissioner, under the administration of the late former Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN).

The association recalled that the new commissioner, while in the saddle during the Akeredolu era, brought tremendous development to sporting activities and sport administration in Ondo State, bringing the state to both national and global reckoning.

It also remarked that in the ministry of Works where he was subsequently deployed to, Yusuf-Ogunleye also made applaudable impacts.

While congratulating the new State Commissioner, the SWAN enthused, stating, “We believe that with your wealth of experience, ability and capacity, you will bring the needed transformation to the development of sports sector in the state.

“As sports writers in Ondo State, we are ready to collaborate and synergise with you and your ministry, as always, to achieve your set goals and agenda.”

Mr Yusuf-Ogunleye, until his appointment, was Commisioner in the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Ondo State.

He is currently the Director-General of Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC)
