Super Eagles vow to fight on after World Cup Qualifier setback

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have returned from Abidjan following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in a World Cup qualifier on Monday.

The match, held in the Ivorian capital, saw the Nigerian team fall short against a side coached by former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

Despite the setback, the Super Eagles remain determined to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Upon their arrival back in Nigeria, the team took to their official Facebook page to assure fans of their commitment to the cause.

“We are back in the country and we are not happy about the way the two games panned out,” the post read.

“We have had talks among ourselves and have resolved to fight hard till the end to ensure we do the impossible which is qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. We don’t take your support for granted, we thank you immensely. #SoarSuperEagles.”

The Nigerian team faces a tough road ahead but has promised to give their all in the remaining qualifiers.

Their pledge to the fans underscores their determination to overcome the recent challenges and achieve their goal of competing on the world stage in 2026.
