The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) has backed Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, as its preferred candidate for the February 25 election.
The group’s endorsement of Obi is coming three weeks before the 2023 general elections.
The Forum made the choice following its extraordinary meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
The Middle Belt, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Afenifere, and Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) leaders make up the leadership of the SMBLF.
Chief John Nnia Nwodo, a former president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, read the communiqué following the meeting.
