Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti was released on Tuesday night on bail from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos.
His lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, confirmed the development. He mentioned that Kuti’s bail conditions had been met since the previous Thursday but the police had requested an extension of his remand until Tuesday.
The extension of Kuti’s remand was granted by Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of the Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The extension allowed the police to conclude their investigation and seek advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution.
The magistrate granted the extension, setting the next court date for May 23, 2023.
