Second Batch of Nigerians return from Sudan

On Friday afternoon, the second batch of Sudanese evacuees arrived in Nigeria.

The Tarco Airline aircraft carrying 130 people, including 128 females and two males, landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 3 pm.

Government officials and others welcomed the returnees, who were received by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

According to NIDCOM, the flight “left Port Sudan International Airport today, 5th May 2023, at 8:00 am local time, with 130 Nigerian nationals (Evacuees) 128 females and 2 males.

“Estimated time of arrival Port Sudan (PZU) to Juba (JUB)= 2hrs 50 min. Stopover: 1 hrs in Juba JUB to ABV = 03:30 min. Total = 7hrs 30min. The flight is expected to arrive in Abuja around 2:30 pm to 3 pm.”

On Wednesday, the first batch of Nigerian evacuees from war-torn North Africa arrived in Nigeria.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Farouk; the NIDCOM Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa; and the Director General of the National Management Emergency Agency (NEMA), Ahmed Mustapha, were present to receive them.

One of the returnees, Sadiq Musa Zakari, a student from Plateau, narrated his gruesome experience in Sudan but expressed his happiness over his safe return.

Musa Ali Ibrahim from Kano State also expressed his relief at being able to drink water, eat and sleep in peace after hearing no sounds of bullets or grenades since his return.
