Sanwo-Olu appointed chairman of South-West Governors’ Forum in Lagos meeting

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been appointed as the new Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.

This decision was made during a meeting held at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, where the six governors of the South-West geo-political zone convened to deliberate on various regional issues.

The meeting, which lasted for three hours, saw the attendance of all six state governors. They met to discuss critical matters concerning the region and its people.

Following the deliberations, Governor Sanwo-Olu emerged as the successor to the late Ondo State Governor, Ogbeni Rotimi Akeredolu, as the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.

While Governor Sanwo-Olu briefed state house correspondents after the meeting, he remained silent on the ongoing minimum wage controversy between the Federal Government and Organised Labour.

He stated that they await the outcome of negotiations between the two parties before making any official statement on the matter.

Among the early arrivals at the Lagos House were Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Luky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti).

The presence of all six governors underscored the significance of the meeting and the issues discussed.

The appointment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the new Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum marks a pivotal moment for regional collaboration and decision-making.

As the governors continue to address pressing issues affecting the South-West, the region looks forward to unified efforts towards development and progress.
